I started my career in engineering but have become increasingly interested in investigating the nature of materials to express ideas. Combining techniques and found objects, I create micro-worlds and groupings that use subconscious associations to make a story.
About my work
My work emerges from the events and emotions that touch my life, both big and small. It comments on the absurd, the ordered, unexpected proximities, perfection and the beauty in imperfection. Wherever I am, I'm not from there which allows me to view my surroundings with a certain externality, providing the root of my individual presentation.
I am inspired by the inventiveness of poor communities in the world to solve problems with what is available, leaving almost nothing to waste. In my work, I repurpose discarded items, applying textile techniques to found objects and fabrics in experimental combinations. Expanding on this, I convert emotions into objects, observation into prose and prose into textile. The spaces between things are as important to me as the objects themselves and I imagine parallel worlds built up of objets trouvés and spurious constraints.
