About the workKim-Ling MORRIS is fascinated by the many techniques of repair and mending that keep things alive for that bit longer. In combining found objects and used materials, she adds another layer to their history, augmenting the traces of people that have held each item. Material provenance is integral to the narrative of her work.
Morris listens for the quiet voice of people far away in time or distance. With her #InVisualConversationWith photographic project, she seeks to connect across the world with other concurrent lives. In other work, she creates imaginary worlds in which connections are rearranged. Aesthetically, she loves textures, natural patterns, shadow and reflected light. In her practice, she plays with materiality, testing their properties that allow her to redirect their usage. She works from Sample-Studios in Cork, Ireland. |
