Note - it doesn't have to be the same. It could be the opposite too!
Similar textures but at different scales
#Day 2 (Inyang Effiong)
Looking at the image of plastic simulating leaves, what if we have real leaves surrounding a piece of plastic, and the human barren countryside equates with the human free lakeside. Here the tree and leaves act as a gateway to the fishing spot further down.

In the above example, Den chose the theme of my photo for his response. However, you could choose something purely visual, like a colour, a detail or a composition, see examples below:
In this example, the photo was taken by Den and he said:
Origins of a city :
Sukabumi City was previously named Gunung Parang, originating from the romantic legend of Wangsa Suta and Nyi Pudak Arum.
Under this tree, Wangsa Suta whispered to Nyi Pudak Arum to keep waiting for him because he had to fight with criminals. While Wangsa Suta fought, Nyi Pudak Arum was captured and was about to be killed because she was considered to be the cause of all the calamities that befall men: she was beautiful and powerful but every man who wanted to marry her died. So Wangsa Suta lost his lover. He went looking for her for a long time to various regions.
Finally, Wangsa Suta returned to Gunung Parang and found many houses and met Nyi Pudak Arum who was still alive. They continued their lives and founded the city that is there now.

#Day2:
Person 2 (in this case, Den Aslam) has between 24 and 36 hours to take a photograph and send it to me via email or WhatsApp. This timing is important as it is maintains a close time band for comparison together with a short comment.
(Obviously, life gets in the way sometimes and there have been occasions where slippage of a day or two has been necessary, but this should be by exception.)

#Day1:
Person 1 (usually me but the choice is yours) puts up a photograph and gives a little information about what this s about.
In this example, this photo is mine and I said:
Cork City began with the river at its heart. Container ships, navy ships, yachts, trawlers and oceanic research ships sometimes blend their silhouettes with those of the surrounding commercial buildings. What will be the next vessel to berth here?

So how exactly does it work? I'll use my conversation with Den Aslam (Indonesia) to illustrate.
So are you interested in conversing with me? Rules of the Game!

We are lucky in that the world's internet is so much developed that these can be done while respecting social distance:
It may seem obvious but you can often forget that ...while I am here, I'm not there... Life goes on where you are but things are also progressing where you are not.
I developed the #InVisualConversationWith photographic project as a conversation between people in two different locations about what is happening in parallel. We are all living in circumstances that are unusual because it is a global difficulty and it's good to feel the solidarity of shared experiences as well as the charm of differences.
