Size 27cm x 34cm Material: Paper & Cloth scraps Price: €50
Textile artist Cas Holmes showed me how to work paper so that it has the most velvety texture. After that, I was rummaging for scraps in my studio like a squirrel in a basket of hazelnuts. She had shown me another way to breathe life into discarded items. Once I had created this piece, I realised the subconcious link with a 19th century Hiroshige wood print, "Dyers' Quarter, Kanda, No. 75" from One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (Brooklyn Museum) that I had come across when researching Itchiku Kubota.
